re-blog: The Nation knows Backpacks

Mr. Pilly Wonk is breaking it down over at the Nation of Thizzlam. He catalogs the nuances of Bay Area raps about backpacks and why they go so hard.


What I love about this blog is that Pilly (and his two brothers (like, genetic) who also post) knows his cartoons as well as he knows his bay shit, and he's not gonna front like he doesn't. That's kind of the whole attitude in general - he's looking out for his readers by calling out rappers on their ugly t-shirts, disputing their claims as to the hardness of Divisidero, and giving propers to those who slap the mostest. Basically the best example out there of white dudes who know tons about rap/black/urban/bay culture and explain it without dumbing it down for your moms and not holding back the depth of their knowledge by trying to act hard.

Plus they put me up on hella tyt shit. Nation of Thizzlam, go!
